REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY (RMT):
Massage Therapy involves a range of manual techniques applied to the soft tissues and joints of the body. At Revive Health Centres, Massage Therapy is just one of many services used to relieve pain, and maintain, rehabilitate and improve physical function. Massage Therapy is a clinically oriented health option that achieves excellent results for a variety of discomforts stemming from stress, muscular overuse and many chronic pain syndromes.
- Revive Health Centres Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are trained in Swedish Massage techniques.
Conditions commonly treated with Massage Therapy include:
- relaxation and stress relief
- painful or tight muscles
- headaches
- delayed onset muscle soreness
- pain or tingling in arms or legs
- prevention of new injuries
- pain or restriction in joint
- posture
- pregnancy, prenatal, and postnatal massage
- sports injuries and training
- muscle weakness and fatique from forced inactivity
- repetitive stress injuries
- fluid retention
Is Massage Therapy Painful?
Usually Massage Therapy is pain-free, however there may be some discomfort or soreness during or after a treatment if a muscle is inflamed and/or strained.
Do insurance plans cover Massage Therapy?
Yes. The majority of Canadian workers have partial or full coverage for registered Massage Therapy services in their workplace health care plans. OHIP does not cover these services. The massage patient is provided with a detailed itemized receipt listing the services provided, the credentials of the Massage Therapist, as well as payment details for reimbursement
Do I need a Doctor's prescription for Massage Therapy?
Some insurance companies may require a note from a physician and/or chiropractor explaining why massage has been recommended. It is recommended that patients check with their insurance for coverage details.
